Canadians Hate DST?
Its true. Canada feels slighted at having to use daylight savings time. They didn't vote for it, they don't want it, but they are forced to use it because the Canadian economy is tied up with the American economy. This is apparently a sore point for some Canadians. I wonder if my vast Canadian readership could comment on this. Do you hate DST?

I'm not Canadian, but I did spend four years in a part of the U.S. that does not use DST. Aside from having to remember that prime time TV started at 7 pm in the summer and 8 pm in the winter, it wasn't that disruptive.
If northwestern Indiana can declare its independence from the U.S. system in this way, cannot Canada do the same?
I have a love/hate relationship with DST. I love it when we get an extra hour and hate it when we lose one. Don't mess with my sleep man.
As for Canada requiring to use DST because of the US it is actually a long drawn out essay of which I have written numerous papers on. (I am a Canadian Studies Minor) Basically by keeping the DST and blaming the US we can continue to complain about the US being the big bad neighbour while we are the poor picked on northern country. It is also a love/hate relationship. Perhaps I will expand on a post one day.
since i am as much canadian as mexican i feel qualified to comment. DST is better and we should be on DST all the time. Not only that but the whole world should be on DST.
When you write it like 'DST' it sounds like a disease. Daylight Savings Time is great, I hate getting up in the dark. And, baby, its my way or the highway. God bless America.
Being Canadian and living in two provinces, one with DST and the other which doesn't use DST, I can say I PREFER DST. I prefer dark mornings and dark nights. I don't like it being light out at 4 or 5am. Way too early to get up. Other reason I like it and think it would be wise for Canada to follow suit, is that no one likes a sore loser. I always thought Saskatchewan was a little strange for not have DST, thought they should have joined the bandwagon years ago. So too should Canada...b/c after all we are all secretly longing to be American:-)
