Curiosity Scared the FishFrog

It's my policy that whenever a fellow blogger comments on my blog to check out their blog. Kind of return the favor. Well that devious fellow, Blogger Monkey posted yesterday and an unknown blogger posted a clever comment. Both the Monkey and I were very pleased. The only thing I like more than comments are clever and good spirited comments.

So I clicked on her profile, and was a bit suprised. Then I read her blog and was even more suprised. I encourage everyone to check it out and let me know what you think. Is her blog meant to be satire? Or does she really believe the things she posts? I can't decide which is the case.

If you don't want to read her whole blog (as I did), here are some highlight:
On Immigration (She recants here and here)
On Catholics
On the Cause of Gangs in America

Now I give my religious friends a bit a grief every now and then (or maybe all the time) but I just want you all to know how fortunate I feel to have such great friends who are tolerant and fun. What scares about Annie's blog is not that she's religious, but that she seems to be intolerant (I know, so am I) and she seems to be a bigot (which I am not). I was going to end with this quote from her profile: "Reincarnaiton is a myth created by the Hindus so they wouldn't have to bathe," but she has removed it from her profile. Luckily, I still have it cached on my hard drive. But instead I'll leave you all with this thought:

Compound interest is the most powerful force in the universe. (Paraphrased from Einstein)

I should have linked, in your defense, to your later posts when you partially recanted your brown tide post. In fact, I'll go back and insert that.

And I have no doubt that you don't think you're a bigot. But you have posted some material that seems to suggest that you are a bigot.

Also, I'm sorry my post made you sad. I don't like to make people sad. But my wife is catholic and I have numerous catholic friends. Your anti-catholic posts made me sad.

I was also saddened by what seem to be regressive anti-feminist posts on your blog. I understand that at times the feminist movement may unfairly pressure women to abandon traditionally female roles, and that those roles should still be considered valid and important roles. But the post came off as unnecessarily anti-woman and regressive.

Well, that's why you post about monkeys and fish and I post about whatever it is I post about. We're all different and my opinions and thoughts are mine.

Tolerance means you should be tolerant of my opinions, that's all they are opinions. They can't hurt you and they don't need defense except when they are being oppressed.

On the God Loves Everyone post (recant to immigration post) she ends by saying "Happy?" Thereby giving the impression that her recant is just an attempt to appease those who were offended by her post.

Annieangel - I'm sorry if you think you are not being racist or a bigot, but your words indicate otherwise. If your intention is to NOT be a bigot, but instead be a living example of Jesus, I hope you are able to learn and grow from this experience.

Differening opinions are valid and allowable, but if you post mean spirited stuff, don't be suprised if you are called out on it.

Tolerence does not mean silence - it means one tolerates the fact that you have right to think as you do. By disagreeing with you, no one is oppressing you - tolerate their right to voice their opinions.

Messages of hate can hurt, even if they are only written word, for these opinions spawn whole ways of thinking for our generation and the next. In particular, your way of thinking about immigrants, Catholics, etc promote actions of discrimintation.

Hey warm fuzzy! How are you? Have you stopped beating your kids yet?

My spirit is not my own, it belongs to God. To call me mean-spirited you have sinned the unforgivable sin, the sin against the Holy Spirit. It won't be forgiven here or in Heaven.

:( Please learn tolerance.

First, let me say that Warm Fuzzy does not have any kids (that I know of.

Second, Fuzzy is absolutely right about tolerance. I'm a big supporter of free speech, but any time you speak out in a public forum, you are opening you statements up to criticism. I encourage everyone to speak their mind and defend their positions against the criticism. Instead of addressing any point in Fuzzy's comment, Annie called Fuzzy a child abuser. That is a bit mean spirited and totally irrelevant to the matter at hand. I think its important to carry on all discussion without resorting to name calling or ad hominum attacks.

That being said, I hope Annie will apologize to Fuzzy for the baseless attack.

My comment is a direct reply to her bashing of me. She has her own house to worry about and should keep her speeches to herself.

This is NOT MY FORUM! You are talking behind my back, if I hadn't come back to this blog I wouldn't have seen it. I should not have to run all over defending my right to my opinons without having assholes telling me how what I think is wrong, hey don't agree, don't have to! Great! But to say I am a bigot is saying NOTHING. To say I am a racist is saying NOTHING. It is actually libel. You don't talk about what I say, just that I am WRONG AND BAD for saying it.

I would think the polite thing for you to do would be to remove this entry, but it is more fun for you to make your attacks against me and invite your idiot friends in on it.

Chicken! Do this on my blog where I post the things you don't like, that's the forum I spoke on, not this one.

This is ABUSE! It truly is. And I would like an apology from all you people who don't know me or anything about me.

Frog, what right do you think you have to speak to and about Annie like this? What did she ever do to you besides make a clever comment on your blog? Are you going to be evil to a woman as good, pure and honest as Annie just because you disagree with her views?

Annie is not a bigot. She is not a sexist. She is not a racist. In fact, she is one of the most tolerant people I've ever met in my life. She would defend anyone's right to say whatever they want, no matter who they were.

I'm simply disgusted by this post and what I've been seeing going on here. Really who do you think you are? Some sort of fish frog? Do you know what we do to frogs in Texas, boy? We stomp 'em. Splat.

Wish I was in my house in Texas right now, and you were in my house facin' me, I'd slap you into next week for speaking to and about a lady like that.

ummm... she called people with dark skin 'excrement.'

BTW... Warm Fuzzy does indeed deserve an apology.

Thats all I have to say, please don't threaten to beat me too.

Annie, lucky for me, truth is an absolute defense to libel. Also you have to show actual economic damage to your reputation. Though I never said you were a bigot or anti-woman, I said you "seemed like a bigot," and you "seemed anti-woman."

Shoelimpy, I actually used to live in Texas and I never stomped any frogs. I'm not doubting that it happens, but it is not how I ever dealt with frogs.

You said "What did she ever do to you besides make a clever comment on your blog?"

Well, she never did anything to me. But she does espouse some hateful ideas about immigrants and Catholics which I found mind-boggling. I fail to see how my bringing some people's attention to her blog is in any way an undeserved attack on her.

You also say: "Annie is not a bigot. She is not a sexist. She is not a racist."

You can call a duck a fish, but if it has feathers and quacks, it's still a duck. It doesn't matter how often or vigorously you call it a fish, it is a duck. It doesn't matter if you beat up the guy calling it a duck. It is a duck because it has the manifestation of duckness (e.g. feathers and a beak).

You say:"Really who do you think you are? Some sort of fish frog?"

No. I am not a fish frog. Are you a shoelimpy?

Frog since you read her blog you know I am one of the poeple she asked to not post on her blog in which I complied.

I do agree, if you post your thought on a public forum or on the internet to read. You should be prepared to defend yourself in a calm rational manor. In which Annie has demonstrated she cannot do. Anything that is slightly differant than her thinking is called Satanistic or worse.

I do believe she is a good woman and means well in her thoughts. I believe some of her thought are misguided and uninformed. When approached to discuss it, she gets upset and angry.

Anyways you have a good blog. I will read more often. I have just started mine, so there is not much there. But hopefully soon I will have some good stuff there to read.

Its good to see there are poeple out there you can still have a good healthy debate with. Hope to find some controversy somewhere.

NO ONE IS FLIPPING BASHING YOU!!! All we try to do is discuss with you the things you put on your blog. Then you get mad because we dont agree with you , and try to present something that might make you think a little. In the hopes that maybe just maybe instead of insulting us and just calling us wrong that you will provide some sort of evidence to where your oppinions come from and in turn make us think a bit. But you wont or my opinion is you cant provide anything like that.

I'm confused as to how someone who purports to eschew sexual perversion can include "Boogie Nights" among her favorite movies...

Confused, based on my recent experience with Annie, I think she's bipolar. That would explain why she's so quick to fly off the handle sometimes, and so sensitive to comment.
